AssessmentSpecialist assessment, focused on the child.
Limitless Psychology offers a range of educational psychology assessments to help families and schools understand a child or young person's profile, strengths, and needs.
Thorough, collaborative, and grounded in evidence.
Every assessment is built around the child, their family, and the people who know them best. We use validated tools, structured observation, and conversation to develop a careful, individualised picture of need.
How assessment works at Limitless Psychology.
We begin with a conversation to understand the questions you are hoping to answer. From there, we recommend the assessment or combination of assessments most likely to be helpful.
All assessments are completed by Dr Lucy Cowper or Dr Joe White, both Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered educational psychologists. You receive a clear written report with formulation, findings, and practical recommendations to support the child at home and at school.
Some assessments can be completed remotely; others involve in-person elements. We will always be transparent about what is involved before any assessment begins.
Types of assessmentThe assessments we offer.
Each assessment is selected and shaped around what you and the child need to understand. The list below outlines the services we currently provide.
Cognitive assessment
A detailed look at intellectual functioning, including verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, working memory, and processing speed. Useful for understanding learning strengths, identifying areas of difficulty, and informing tailored support at school. Can be completed remotely.
Dyslexia and dyscalculia assessment
A specialist assessment of literacy and numeracy skills to identify specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia. Provides a clear diagnostic picture, supports access arrangements, and informs targeted intervention at home and school.
AIM3 assessment
A specialist assessment used when there are concerns about harmful sexual behaviour. Often undertaken within safeguarding, legal, and forensic contexts, AIM3 helps develop a comprehensive understanding of a child’s strengths, needs, vulnerabilities, and risk factors. Findings can inform safeguarding decisions, intervention planning, and wider assessments.
Neurodevelopmental screening
A structured screening process for autism and ADHD. We use validated questionnaires, clinical interview, and observation to explore whether a child or young person's profile may be consistent with autism, ADHD, or both. Helpful as a first step before a full diagnostic assessment, or as part of one of our diagnostic pathways.
